Freedom Is a Right, Not a Privilege

Freedom. It is often symbolized via many different means, but in the United States, it's symbolized by the American Flag. Thousands have died defending this freedom. Sadly, too many Americans have become willing to sacrifice their freedom for security. Security without freedom is for the weak. Freedom gives you the ultimate in security by allowing you to defend what you love and care about.

Burning of the American Flag. Personally I find the idea of the burning of the flag offensive, only because I think the U.S. is the best country in the world. That's my opinion, however. I have the freedom to not burn the flag, but I respect other people's rights to burn the flag. In fact, a person burning the flag would be a reinforcement of the flag's symbolism for freedom than the flag by itself.

Banning a person from burning the American Flag is the first step towards taking away even more of our freedom, and handing it over to those that would control us as a nation. Do you want a person controlling how you worship your god, or lack thereof? Do you want a person dictating how and what television you see, what you read, or what you listen to? If you don't want that happening, don't support efforts that try to ban flag burning or other censorship.

Censorship. I don't like what the KKK has to say, I don't like what Christians have to say. I do, however realize that to protect my own rights, I must protect theirs. If a local KKK group was trying to organize a demonstration, and someone was fighting to keep that from happening, I would fight for the group's ability to demonstrate, because while I was doing that, I would be fighting for my own rights.

Equality. It's something very hard to attain, and something in which we may never obtain, but it is something we must fight for in terms of the law protecting inequalities. Affirmative action is not necessary, merely make it illegal to discriminate by race or religion. Censorship hits so close to equality, it's quite amazing. The first groups a certain people will want to censor is a group they don't consider their equal, or a group that is under them.

Steps to take over a nation. First of all, make sure they're all starving. When a person is hungry, they'll eagerly listen to someone who promises a way for all to eat well, especially when that person's handing out food. Secondly, keep the people ignorant. An educated public is a public that can think for themselves because they keep up with the issues. The blind (Uneducated) are the easiest to lead to the end of the cliff like lemmings running to their own death. Censorship plays a heavy part in keeping the public ignorant. Find a minority within the nation, and have that minority be the "enemy". People need an enemy to concentrate their efforts towards eliminating. Finally, Raise your Army from your new group of people that have been molded to what you want them to be.

Do you see any correlation between the steps listed above compared to what some people are trying to do to people in your country? If so, that's what they may have in mind. Especially the Christian groups. Fighting for censorship, fighting for control, they want the control. Don't let them have it. You must stand up for your own rights, and defend your, and OTHER people's freedom.
